Change: Why Fight It?

Hi! I decided to create this blog as a result of a conversation I had with a friend, which led to an incredible conversation with my wife, and ultimately to a change. One change at a time. I'll also share some tips and lessons I've learned as I continue my freelance/solopreneur journey as an Executive Assistant/Business Coach/and more. I encourage you to share your thoughts, goals, and changes you've made or want to make. Let's become partners on this journey and crush it!

I had a conversation with a friend the other day about a change I wanted to make. I knew they could help, but not in the way I expected.

We talked about my options for this change, and I said that we couldn’t financially do that at this time. My friend said, “Well, how bad do you want to make the change? If you want it bad enough, you’ll figure out a way.” I thanked them for their time and we ended the call. Wow.

Initially, I was pissed off. I thought, What do you mean, if I want it bad enough, I’ll figure out a way? You don’t know my situation. Then I paused, took a deep breath, and sat with the conversation I just had with my friend.

They were right. If I want the change bad enough, I’ll figure out a way. The thing is that my friend didn’t care whether I took any of the suggestions they made. They were trying to be supportive of the change I wanted to make.

That conversation led to an incredibly raw and deep conversation with my wife. Together, we came up with our plan to make not just one change but many changes.

Change isn’t always bad. It’s what you do with that change that makes it good or bad. You can choose to focus on what you think are the negative aspects of the change. We choose to look at the positive aspects of the change. We made one simple change last night and another one this morning, and the difference can already be seen and felt. I’m looking forward to the coming days to see where these changes take us.

I challenge you to pick one thing you’d like to change about yourself. It doesn’t have to be something big. Just one thing. Make the change and stick to it consistently. It only takes 21 days to form a habit. Let’s partner and crush it!
