Working Smarter, Living Better: Riding on the Change Train

I decided to keep riding the Change Train as a topic because lately, well, things have been changing A LOT!

Last week, as you know, I made a change because of a conversation I had with a friend. We’ve changed our eating habits, not that they were bad, we don’t eat a lot of junk food, no pop (or soda, depending on where you’re from). We also jumped back on the exercise train, which has been really good.

As I continue to think about change, and the changes I need to make. I think about my business. As an Executive Assistant/Fractional COO/Fractional CMO/Fractional PMO/Fractional Event Planner…I spend a lot of time working IN my business. I know I’ve said this a million times, and I’m sure you have too. I need to spend more time working ON my business. How can we do this?

Taking advantage of time.

What this means for me is that when my clients are offsite working or out of town with family, I work ON my business. This doesn’t mean that I stop completing tasks for them; it means that I stay on top of all emails. However, I also carve out time to get back on track with my social media, website updates, and other tasks. That’s actually what I’m doing as I write this. I will admit that this process isn’t as easy as it sounds. Trust me, I’ve found myself going down plenty of rabbit holes while working on something for a client, and then have to check myself and get back on task.

I’m not sure why, but as entrepreneurs and especially women, we find it hard to give ourselves permission to work ON our business, let alone have someone help us with that task. Sounds like another change needs to happen.
